Massachusetts-based custom plastic manufacturer BMP Medical received a "Manufacturing Excellence Award 2023" from Worcester Business Journal.
The award recognizes the company's effort in assisting to manufacture a nasal swab for its customer, Rhinostics. Wyss Institute and Harvard Medical School developed the technology before licensing it to Rhinostics, BMP Medical said.
BMP Medical, a third-generation business, works with leading Fortune 500 OEM companies and startups. It helps to develop and manufacture innovative custom plastic solutions for challenging medical and diagnostic products.
This marks the seventh year in which the Worcester Business Journal awarded six top Massachusetts-based manufacturing businesses. These range across biotech, cannabis, growers, medical equipment, machinery, breweries, food processors and furniture makers. WBJ plans to hold its Central Mass Manufacturing Summit & Awards on April 25 at 2:30 p.m. It takes place at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.
"We were fortunate early on during COVID in 2021 to partner with Wyss Institute and Harvard Medical School to assist in manufacturing a new, fully plastic nasal swab for its automated analytical system," said Michael Faulkner, BMP Medical president and CEO. "This new technology offers a faster way for individuals to receive test results and lessen manual labor in processing those results. We’re proud of the small part we played in helping them to bring their innovation to life."
